yuanhui zhang, is the endowed innoventor professor in engineering, and the associate head of department of agricultural and biological engineering. he
is also a professor of mechanical science engineering, civil and environmental engineering, and bioengineering, at the university of illinois at urbana-champaign. he is a registered professional engineer; a fellow of american society of heating, refrigeration and air-conditioning engineers (ashrae); a fellow of american society of agricultural and biological engineers, the winner of 2008 henry-geise award from asabe. his research areas include thermochemical conversion of biowaste and algae into crude oil, indoor air quality engineering and volumetric particle tracking velocimetry. he published over 240 scientific papers and is the author of a textbook “indoor air quality engineering”. aside from his scientific publications, professor zhang’s work has been widely reported by u.s. media including fox, cnn, nbc, new york times and national geographic.
张源辉，教授。1989年加拿大萨斯卡彻温大学博士毕业并留校。1992-1996年担任加拿大萨斯卡彻温大学研究员及助教授，1996-2003年任美国伊利诺依大学（uiuc）农业与生物工程系副教授（终身），2002年至今任美国伊利诺依大学（uiuc）生物环境工程系学科主任，2003年至今任美国伊利诺依大学（uiuc）农业与生物工程系、机械工程系、土木与环境工程系教授，2007年至今担任美国伊利诺依大学（uiuc）农业与生物工程系副主任；该系连续四年被《美国新闻与世界报道》排名全美第一（us news and world report，2006-2009），所在的工学院和农学院均名列美国前五名。2011年被授予伊利诺依大学（uiuc）农业与生物工程系有史以来首位享受特殊岗位津贴的冠名教授（endowed innoventor professor in engineering）。 张源辉教授为第一位获得美国农业与生物工程学会herry geise奖的大陆裔学者。该奖是美国农业与生物工程师学会（asabe）生物环境工程领域最高奖项，每年只授予在该领域作出突出贡献的一位科学家。张教授现为美国农业与生物工程师学会（asabe）会士（fellow）；美国供暖、制冷与空调工程师学会（ashrae）会士（fellow）；会士不超过会员总数的1%，授予在教学科研领域做出杰出贡献者。他现为uiuc经费预算委员会成员，曾任工学院、农学院执委会成员，农学院学术职称评委，农学院管理人员（包括院、系两级管理者）评委会主席。2010年作为中组部国家“千人计划”引进人才到中国农业大学兼职工作，开展环境增值能源将生物废弃物和微藻高效转化成原油的相关研究。
